From My Desktop

Hello to all you faithful readers and visitors,

Some of my regular readers may remember that last month I was extolling the peace and beauty of snow. Well, guess what? I was wrong! After weeks of storm after storm after storm, I am so done with snow! We are now up over 100 inches and counting.

We were so sick of snow and so needed to see the sun, that we took two weeks and flew down to Florida. If you love visiting cities that have an underlying sense of history and are impressed by great architecture, St. Augustine, Florida is the place for you.

It is the oldest city in the United States, founded by the Spaniards in 1565, and has something for everyone. There was sun, great beaches, home of the World Golf Hall of Fame, along with the old historical city, great shopping and food, etc, etc.

As you can tell we had a great time, soaked up some sun, and then returned to our dreary snowy weather. However, now I know I'll be good to go until spring comes. There's nothing like sun to bring out the best in people after a long winter.

Until next month, Spring!!! Yeah!!!

Your Friendly Neighborhood (even if I am half way around the world!) Home Dec Lady,
Gloria

The Creative Workshop
Build a Room Around an Object

This month's creative exercise will take you some time. However, it can be broken into small bits and done as the spirit moves.

The first step will be to choose an object you like. It can be a piece of furniture, a picture, an accessory such as a vase or mirror. Choose this carefully as this will be the basis for this exercise. It's fun to choose something you wouldn't normally have in your home because you will be building an entire room around this item.

Have you always longed for a traditional colonial home? Perhaps your dream runs to a beach house or cabin in the woods. Maybe it's Victorian or shabby chic you've always wanted. The point here is that this is entirely fictional, so choose something that makes you happy, makes you laugh, makes you feel relaxed or creative.

Print of a picture of this or put the item if you have it in a place you can see it often. We are now going to build around this. If it helps you visualize easier, look through magazines or on the internet for a picture of the house you feel this would fit into. Should the house be a bungalow or a Georgian colonial? Would it be a modern high rise or a house with an oriental look? Whatever you choose, print off the picture and put it with your item.

Pretend you have a rich client with an unlimited budget and no timeline. She wants a room decorated around this object that has great sentimental value to her. She has chosen you from a large selection of other decorators because she has heard great things about your work.

Start a notebook of ideas you could present to her. What type of room would this fit into? What type of decorating style would you choose? Think about color schemes and fabrics. What type of furniture would go here? How about the flooring and carpeting? Would window treatments be formal or informal? When all this is done, what would you choose for accessories? How would you display the object she has chosen to showcase its importance?

Print off pictures from the internet or cut then from magazines. Draw your floor plan and arrange your furniture. Pick up paint chips and fabric samples. Work as a professional decorator and gather your materials.

I could go on and on giving directions for completing this exercise, but I'm sure you have the idea. Start a portfolio for this exercise and work on it as the spirit moves. Take all the time you want, whether it's a week or a year. Have fun with this and build the room or house of your dreams using this exercise. Eventually, you will see the entire room in your mind's eye.

You never know where this type of exercise will lead. You may find yourself going down roads you've never traveled. You may get caught up in the history of a decorating stlye. You may start collecting memorabilia of a different time period. This may even affect your future home purchase. Just let go, have fun, work as the creative muse visits you, and in the meantime learn how to develop your own unique decorating style.

Dare to Dream, Dare to Hope, Dare to Believe, Dare to Live!

Why Does The Average Person Fail At MLM Online?

Network Marketing (sometimes called "Multi-Level Marketing" or "MLM") is all about...

    * recruiting/lead generation/relationship-building
    * sales conversion
    * ongoing consumption
    * replicating yourself through downline motivation and training.
The Internet should be the best thing since sliced bread for Network Marketers. But it's being done all wrong, by all the wrong people. It starts at the top. If your company is still stuck in the "analog, old-world model" and if your upline fails to grasp the lessons in this site, what chance do you have?
